Day 2: Negombo → Sigiriya / Dambulla ∼4hrs

Morning fish market and Dutch canal boat ride in Negombo.En route: Visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage – feed baby elephants, river bath time. Kids love this.Evening: Check into Sigiriya. Pool time.Stay: Family villa with pool

Day 3: Sigiriya & Dambulla

Early climb Sigiriya Lion Rock - older kids go to the top, grandparents can enjoy the gardens below.Afternoon: Dambulla Cave Temple with 150+ Buddha statues.Night: Village experience + traditional cooking demo.Stay: Sigiriya

 

Day 4: Sigiriya → Kandy ∼3.5hrs

Stop at Spice Garden in Matale – fun for kids to smell and touch.Afternoon: Kandy City Tour – Temple of the Tooth, Kandy Lake, cultural dance show with fire walking.Stay: Hill-country hotel with lake view

 

Day 5: Kandy → Nuwara Eliya ∼2.5hrs

Scenic train or road via tea plantations.Visit Tea factory + try fresh tea.Afternoon: Gregory Lake boating, Victoria Park, strawberry farm. Cool weather, perfect for families.Stay: Nuwara Eliya

 

Day 6: Nuwara Eliya → Ella → Yala ∼5hrs

Morning: 9 Arch Bridge in Ella + mini “Adams Peak” hike for views.Afternoon: Drive to Yala through beautiful countryside.Stay: Safari lodge near Yala

 

Day 7: Yala National Park Safari

Early morning jeep safari – leopards, elephants, crocs, peacocks. Our guides make it a game for kids to spot animals.Back for pool + rest. Evening nature walk.Stay: Yala

 

Day 8: Yala → Mirissa / Galle ∼4hrs

Coastal drive. Stop at Galle Fort – UNESCO site, ice cream, boutique shopping.Evening: Mirissa Beach – safe beach, turtle hatchery visit.Stay: Family beach resort

 

Day 9: Mirissa – Whales & Fun

Option 1: Whale watching early morning – blue whales in season Dec-Apr.

Option 2: Snorkeling at Hikkaduwa or Turtle beach in Kosgoda for younger kids.

Day 10: Mirissa → Colombo → Airport ∼3.5hrs

Last shopping at Laksala and Pettah Market.  
Visit Gangaramaya Temple and seaside Galle Face Green.  
Airport drop for flight home.
